Shenfield High School is the Lead School for the Mid Essex SCITT Consortium. The consortium delivers the School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme validated by Greenwich University. The thirty-six week programme comprises of an initial three week induction programme, followed by four days each subsequent week on general professional studies and subject specific topics. In each consortium school there is a Professional Mentor designated to have oversight and responsibility for the training of teachers and to monitor the delivery of the programme. Each curricular area involved in the school has a Subject Mentor to support the training of teachers. A Lead Subject Mentor is also nominated to co-ordinate the subject specific content of the programme across the nine schools.
