Shenfield High School is the Lead School for the Mid Essex GTP Consortium which is a Designated Recommended Body for the GTP programme. Shenfield High School aims to provide the highest quality Initial Teacher Training through the school-based Graduate Teacher Programme by ensuring that the Consortium delivers the GTP programme validated by the Teacher Training Agency. The thirty-six week programme comprises of an initial two-day induction programme, followed by each subsequent week on general professional studies and subject specific topics. In each consortium school is a Professional Mentor, designated to have oversight and responsibility for the training of teachers. Each curricular area involved in the school has a Subject Mentor to support the training of the teachers. A Lead Subject Mentor is nominated to co-ordinate the subject specific content of the programme across the nine schools.
